A special pohutakawa...

Niki told the story of the pohutakawa tree and flowers on her blog http://wool-n-nuts.blogspot.com/ and it reminded me of my own special story...

Not long after I moved to Governors Bay, my friend and colleague John house-sat for me while I was in Europe at a conference. I returned just on Christmas to find, in my living room, a little potted pohutakawa covered with Christmas decorations. Something to make me smile through the jet-lag!

That tiny tree is now thriving in my garden and looks like this...

  1. Yours looks lovely. We thought of having one here but I think they might be a bit frost tender.

  2. We do get frosts here, tho won't be as heavy as yours. I've never had any frosty problems with this one... Would be worth a try...??
