Chook challenge...

I am not sure what we call a gathering of hens. Is there an official term? Like a 'herd' of elephants or a 'flock' of geese? I suspect there might be a really obvious word that I have overlooked. Suggestions?

In these photos I was trying to capture the three latest additions - Coco, Chanel and No 5 - but getting a hen to pose for a photo is an impossible task. However what I did like about the heads down, tails up was the pleasing blend of colour and texture. Never mind that they are wrecking the garden... Sidney, who is in extreme moult, is missing.

Hmmm - maybe a 'huddle of hens'...???

  2. Are those the right terms?? It's funny, I don't hear people using the collective term for a bunch of hens and I keep thinking there should be something wonderful like a 'hustle of hens'!!??
