Sad scenes in Lyttelton...
Some of the buildings that help define Lyttelton township have been damaged. No word as to whether The Empire and the Harbourlight can be saved. The demolition (?) teams were hard at work today (Sunday) while a good chunk of London Street remained cordoned off.

Thanks for these pictures and thoughts. Everyone has different pieces of the cracked-up jig-saw. Haven't been to Lyttelton yet. Ohinetahi is a sad sight.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen Ohinetahi - well, except at a distance from the foreshore track. Taking photos feels ghoulish but nevertheless important...
