I have walked here a few times lately .. so many people do not look above the horizontal, therefore they miss so much lovely architecture and character. There is already less to see but hopefully a lot will be saved. My hope also is that areas of town will be built and rebuilt in "character". I was in Ascott shop the day prior to the rumble .. now you can see upstairs at their decore .. and we just had a 5 scale after shock!
I live in Governors Bay in Lyttelton Harbour, over the hill from the city of Christchurch. The harbour is my turangawaewae. I have a large garden planted in natives, vegetables and fruit trees, with (currently) 15 hens. My career background is in secondary and tertiary teacher education. Now I research and write from home in a magical environment and travel as often as I can.
Hopefully 4th time lucky !
