Planting natives at Orton Bradley Farm Park, Charteris Bay early on a fine, frosty June morning.
There is something special about being part of such a positive, practical community activity - and knowing that, in the future, we will be able to enjoy the progress of these plants.
I live in Governors Bay in Lyttelton Harbour, over the hill from the city of Christchurch. The harbour is my turangawaewae. I have a large garden planted in natives, vegetables and fruit trees, with (currently) 15 hens. My career background is in secondary and tertiary teacher education. Now I research and write from home in a magical environment and travel as often as I can.
